Come September, kids tend to forget some of the skills they learned the year before. Teachers call this the 'summer slide'. Teachers and students benefit from review to hone those fourth grade skills so we are better prepared for fifth grade math. Below are the skills we will review through September.
Kids know the skills they need help on. I encourage everyone to pick a skill they feel they are weak and practice using the sheets below. Math is like a Lego tower...we can't build the next level if the one below is weak.
Add and subtract fractions
Add and subtract whole numbers
Convert measurement units
Factors and multiples
Identify basic geometric shapes
Measure using common tools
Multiply and divide whole numbers
Multiply fractions by whole numbers
Read, interpret, compare decimal fractions
Recognize symmetry and transformations
Represent and solve problems
Understand and use number notation and place value
Understand fractions
Understand right angles
Use perimeter and area formulas
